Screen Printing Metal: This is different than etching, laser cutting or engraving. I have been using screenprinting with metal powders and epoxy to try and develop the equivalent of metal stickers. In the past I have used pigmented epoxies, but the top layer is always subjected to discoloration due to UV and direct printing on metal is no different than a regular sticker, it will break down. Printing a top surface of actual metal allows these laminates to wear and resist weathering with their natural properties.
I have recently moved forward with the detail problems and consistency problems that have plagued this handmade process. I feel confident that a high level of detail can be transferred into these prints consistently. Next I have to find the right product for this technique.
